Attention Deficit Disorder is defined as a disorder in which individuals who have difficulty maintaining an attention span and who exhibit impulsive behaviors.

The condition is also called Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. The condition that caused impairments were present before the age of 7 years and has persisted for more than 6 months.

There are 3 categories:

  • mostly inattentive
  • mostly hyperactive
  • combined

  1. screening for hyperthyroidism, poor nutrition, sleep disturbance issues
  2. screeing for overlapping psychological problems such as conduct disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, depression, anxiety
  3. evaluation of data from parents, patient, teachers
  4. Individualized therapy depending on findings
